All plants, but especially mature trees, naturally absorb carbon in the atmosphere. Planting lots of trees is an effective, efficient, and inexpensive way to fight climate change. In addition to absorbing carbon, trees have many additional environmental benefits and are critical to developing healthy ecosystems.

The Appleseed Initiative is developing a reforestation model to support substantial, but decentralized reforestation efforts. We’re building a network of forestry experts, seedling sources, and volunteers. We intend to pair that network with people with land. We put people interested in planting trees together with people who are happy to have more trees on their land.
